Apple M2 and M2 Max Chipset Performance

Recently, Jason Cross, from Macworld, revealed the predicted performance of the Apple M2 and M2 Max chipsets. Jason Cross's prediction is based on observations of the development of the A-series chipset, especially from the A14 to A15 generations.

The CPU and GPU performance projections for the Apple M2 and M2 Max seem to suggest that Apple's upcoming silicon could potentially offer decent advantages over the current M1 and M1 Max SoCs.

Jason Cross has also shared benchmark predictions for the M2 and M2 Max chipsets via the Geekbench 5 site.

Predictably, the M2 and M2 Max chipsets will have slightly higher single-core scores than the M1 Max. The predicted score from Jason Cross shows that the M2 chipset will get 1829 points while the M2 Max will get 1873 points.

For comparison, the Geekbench 5 M1 Max score stands at 1747. Meanwhile, the predicted multi-core M2 and M2 Max scores show that both chipsets have improved significantly compared to their predecessors. The M2's multi-core score is 8837 and the M2 Max is at 14632.

MacBook Pro 13 Inch with M2

Previous news said that a 13-inch MacBook Pro with an M2 silicon processor would be launched next March. Based on information from MacRumors, the upcoming 13-inch MacBook Pro retains the same design as the current version.

Includes a Touch Bar, but unlike the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, it won't have a notch. or the ProMotion display, contrary to some rumors.

If so, that means the main difference in the new entry-level MacBook Pro models is the new M2 chip, which features the same number of CPU cores as the M1 processor, up to 10 graphics cores, and upgrades.

As is known, Apple released the MacBook Pro in October 2021, it was mentioned that Apple had increased the number of pixels on both screens. And all models also support an on-screen refresh rate of 120 Hz.

These two new Macbook Pro models come with more ports. There are three USB-C Thunderbolt 4, HDMI port, SDXC card slot.

Apple sells these products starting at US $ 1,999 (Rp. 28.2 million) for the 14-inch, and the US $ 2,499 (Rp. 35.3 million) for the 16-inch.

The M1 Max version is available as an upgrade, with an additional 64GB of memory worth US$400 and US$2,400 for up to 8TB, comes in Silver or Space Grey. While for devices that support M2 Max. So far there is no information, it seems we still have to wait.
