How To Clear Memory On iPhone

iPhone storage memory or iPhone storage that is full may be quite annoying for some users. iPhone is not equipped with an external memory expansion feature using the MicroSD slot.

Sometimes some users finally decide to save their files on the Cloud platform, such as iCloud or Google Driver, when the memory has appeared with a warning such as "iPhone Storage Full".

Saving files on the Cloud platform can be a shortcut to overcome a full iPhone memory. However, the process of uploading files on the Cloud platform is quite time-consuming, especially when the internet connection is not working properly.

Then, the Cloud platform also has a limited capacity, such as iCloud which is given a storage capacity of 5 GB, if users want to get a larger capacity, they need to pay a subscription fee.

Thus, users are not always able to use these shortcuts. So, what to do if iPhone storage is full? Users can reduce iPhone storage in various ways, from deleting media to application caches.

Users do not need to use additional applications to reduce iPhone storage. Already curious about how to free up iPhone memory? Check out the explanation of how to free up iPhone memory below.

1. Deleting less important media files

You can delete less important media files, such as photos or videos, that accumulate in the iPhone gallery. One photo taken via the iPhone's camera is currently more than 2 MB in size.

Imagine if you have 1000 photos or more, iPhone storage space may be full quickly. For that, how to free up iPhone memory can be done by deleting media files that are less important.

These media files can be deleted by accessing the iPhone gallery. Then, go to your album and select a less important photo or video file to delete.

As soon as it is deleted from the album, immediately check the “Recently Deleted” folder and tap the “Select” option. Then, click on the “Erase All” option to permanently clean the media files from iPhone memory.

2. Delete never used apps

Apps that are never used also contribute to the full storage space on the iPhone. Sometimes users don't realize that they have installed enough applications, even though they are not always used.

Therefore, how to reduce full iPhone storage can be done by deleting applications that are never used. You can delete it manually by tapping and holding the "home" screen until you see the app logo wagging.

After that, click the cross icon listed in the upper left corner of the application logo and select the “Delete” or “Delete” option.

In addition to the method above, the iPhone is now equipped with a feature to delete unused applications automatically. So when the memory condition is full, the system will automatically delete applications that are never used.

To activate this feature, click on the gear icon to access the settings menu. Then, scroll down and select the “App Store” option. Scroll down and slide the “Eject Unused” toggle to green.

This feature can only delete the main files from the application, while the data and documents in it will still be stored in the iPhone's memory, including the application cache. To clean all the data, you can do it by removing the application from the "home" screen.

3. Clear cache on apps and websites

Overcoming a full iPhone memory can also be done by clearing the cache of applications and websites. A cache is temporary data containing user activity when running applications or accessing websites via a browser.

The cache size is not as big as media files or apps. However, you can delete them as well, thus making more storage space available. To clear the cache on the website, please open the settings menu.

Scroll down until you find Safari browser settings. Click the browser settings, then find and select the "Clear History and Website Data" option.

Meanwhile, to completely clear the application cache, you can do the same as above. If you want to clear the cache simply, you can do this by reloading your iPhone.

Reloading the device will only clear the cache that is lighter, such as code data or programming commands running on the iPhone. Reloading the iPhone will not delete temporary data on apps and websites.

How to reload the device is different in each iPhone series. Reloading the device on the Face ID series iPhone is done by pressing the power and volume down buttons, then selecting "slide-off". After that, click and hold the power button until the Apple logo appears.

While on the iPhone Touch ID series, the way to reload it is by pressing the power button and then selecting "slide-off". Then, turn it back on by clicking and holding the power button until the Apple logo appears.

In trying out the method above, KompasTekno uses iPhone Xs with the iOS 15.4 operating system version. Different phone models and operating system versions are used, maybe the location of the options will also be different.

that are three ways to free up a full iPhone memory without additional applications, hopefully useful.
