Samsung officially launched two new phones from the Galaxy A-series family, namely the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G and A33 5G. Both phones were launched globally on Thursday (17/3/2022) through an event titled "Samsung Galaxy Awesome Unpacked 2022".
Different from their predecessors, these two phones are members of the first Galaxy A-series line that comes without a charger. Thus, Samsung only includes a cell phone unit, a USB cable, and a SIM ejector in the sales box for the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G and A33 5G.
Samsung intentionally removed these accessories with the excuse of showing their concern for the environment. This step, according to Samsung, is in line with the "Galaxy for the Planet" initiative that the company has been running since August 2021.
Meanwhile, in terms of software, Samsung is committed to extending the life cycle of the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A33 by bringing One UI and Android OS updates up to four generations and security updates for the next five years.
President and Head of Mobile eXperience of Samsung Electronics, TM Roh said that the Galaxy A53 5G and A33 5G are here to fulfill users' daily activities with a variety of the latest features that are present in them.
"With the release of the new Galaxy A Series, we want to make it even more convenient for users to enjoy the leading innovative mobile experience from Galaxy at the best price."
Samsung Galaxy A53 5G Specifications
Between the two, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G appears superior because it carries slightly higher specifications. This phone has a 6.5-inch FHD Plus Super AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a Gorilla Glass 5 protector.
In the camera sector, Samsung has also buried four cameras on the backside of the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G. The four cameras include a 64 MP main camera (f/1.8, OIS), a 12 MP ultra-wide camera (f/2.2), a 5 MP depth camera (f/2.4), and a 5 MP macro camera (f/2.4).
The camera series on this phone promises to improve features in Night Mode, Portrait Mode, Fun Mode, as well as the Photo Remaster feature that can bring old and low-quality photos back to life.
While on the front, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is also equipped with a 32 MP (f/2.2) selfie camera placed in a punch hole (camera hole).
Galaxy A53 is powered by Samsung's latest chipset, Exynos 1280 which is built with 5 nm fabrication. The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is available in 8 GB RAM combined with 128 GB and 256 GB storage options.
If it's not enough, the storage capacity on this phone can still be expanded up to 1 TB using a microSD card.
On the power aspect, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is supported by a 5,000 mAh battery with support for the 25-watt Super Fast Charging feature. This phone runs operating system 12 wrapped in One UI 4.1 interface.
Other feature sets found on the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G include 5G support, IP67 water and dust resistance certification, and Bluetooth 5.1.
Samsung Galaxy A33 5G Specifications
In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G has several similarities with the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G. This can be seen from the identical configuration of the RAM chipset, storage memory, operating system, and battery.
However, there is another aspect that distinguishes the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G from its sibling. One of them is in terms of the screen, where the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G has a lower screen size and refresh rate of 6.4 inches and 90 Hz, respectively.
Another difference can also be found in the camera aspect. The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G is equipped with a 48 MP main camera (f/1.8, OIS), an 8 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera, a 2 MP depth camera (f/2.4), and a 5 MP macro camera (f/2.4).
The selfie camera configuration also tends to be lower, with a resolution of 13 MP (f/2.2), instead of 32 MP (f/2.2) like the Samsung Galaxy A53.
Price of Samsung Galaxy A53 5G
For the global version, the Galaxy A53 5G 6GB/128GB variant is sold at 449 Euros.
Price of Samsung Galaxy A33 5G
Meanwhile, the new Samsung Galaxy A33 5G will begin to be released globally on April 22, 2022. There is no information on when this phone will be available.
However, at the "Samsung Galaxy Awesome Unpacked 2022" event, Samsung announced the global price of the Galaxy A33 5G 6GB/128GB variant is 369 Euros.
