It is no longer a secret that Marc Marquez has been racing in conditions that are not prime. The Repsol Honda rider finally decided to focus on recovering from his injury.
Marquez is said to be undergoing surgery on his right arm. He got the fracture at the beginning of the 2020 season. With this injury, Marquez was required to rest for almost a full season. Last season, he was allowed to return to racing, although his condition has not fully recovered.
His injury got worse when Marquez experienced a high side during the Italian MotoGP qualifying session at the Mugello Circuit. He also decided to undergo a fourth operation at the Clinica Mayo in America.
"Since I returned to racing, I have felt a big limit. Even under these circumstances, I never gave up and kept pushing, working, doing what the doctor said," said Marquez, quoted from Crash.net, Sunday (29/5/). 2022).
Marquez said he realized that this season he was not enjoying being on the bike. In particular, because of the pain, he was feeling. So, there is no power, and can not race as he wanted.
As a result, his left shoulder also began to experience pain. Because Marquez weighed more on his left hand so that his right hand wouldn't hurt.
The healing process in his bones did not go smoothly. Marquez mentioned that there was too much rotation in the arm.
His medical team also advised Marquez to immediately perform surgery at the Clinica Mayo, with dr. Joaquin Sanchez Sotelo.
"It seems like a nightmare, but I'm sure I'll be back soon. It's going to be tough, I know it. I don't know how long it will take to heal. But, this is the moment to do it, because they have no doubts. we will see if we can come back soon. There is no need to rush, "said Marquez.
Marquez said, dr. Joaquin had three-dimensionally printed the bone to see where it turned. In addition, after the operation, the healing will be very long. "But, the time to do it is now, because for me it is impossible to race like this and suffer a lot. I don't enjoy it and every weekend is a nightmare," said Marquez.
Even so, Marquez can still occasionally win or get on the podium. But, that's not what he wanted, because he was in pain and just created another injury. "My goal remains the same, to come back again, and now I can only prepare for 2023. I want to thank Honda because they respect my decision and they support me very much," said Marquez.
Marquez added that performing surgery in the middle of the current season was not the best way. However, this is the best decision for the future.
In an official statement from Honda Racing Corporation (HRC), Marquez said goodbye to this season and explained why. "I just want to tell you that unfortunately, I have to take a break from the 2022 season, which will take me away from the competition for a while," said Marquez.
